My name is Ryan Holmes. I am a Teach First ambassador and a Teaching Leaders alumni (now Ambition School Leadership's Expert Middle Leaders programme). Currently, I am leading a great Year 6 team in London and previously spent time in North Carolina and Lincoln.
I am passionate about our collective power to change the educational landscape and a strong believer in our capacity to improve. I am interested in learning more about educational research and hope this blog will be a place where I can reflect on new ideas and old, share a few resources and give a little back to the online educational community. I originally began writing on the education micro-blogging site Staffrm. Sadly, that site shut down in 2017 so, when other priorities in my work and life took over, I hit the pause button. Since my initial foray into the world of blogging, I have begun to share my resources on TES and YouTube. I've also continued to use Twitter as a way to find some of the great blogs and books that are out there. All of this got me thinking: why didn't I collect this all in one place? And if I was going to do that, why not start a blog of my own? So, here is the result. A collection of resources, recommendations and blogs of my own. Many of the things I will write about will undoubtedly have been discussed by others in a thorough and eloquent manner. I want to thank all of the great people from whom I have begged, borrowed and stolen their ideas! I apologise in advance if anything I post here is a little self-indulgent; my hope is that I can help contribute to the conversation just a little. I'm not going to promise to be a prolific blogger, or even a regular one, but if anything I write or share helps just one more teacher, just one more class, just one more school, then this will all have been worth it. |
